It feels nice, but it's like teasing...

[ the tail seems happy to be getting the attention now. ]

Isn’t teasing a form of affection?

[ his fox ears twitch before he nods shyly. ]

So isn't a little teasing fine?

[Grins a bit at the shy nod, starting the brush the final tail]

[ turns to look at Jewel before leaning to smooch him on the nose.

Fine fine, he'll accept a little teasing ok!! ]

[Rewards the innocent little smooch by leaning forward to return the gesture with a peck to Sam's cheek]

Going to take that as a yes then.

[ his free tails tickle along Jewel's cheeks in response. ]

[Wraps his arms around Sam’s waist, trapping the tails between them as he rests his chin on Sam’s shoulder]

That’s a cute expression.

I will deny I can make it in any one else's presence.

[ Sam relaxes into the hold though, unable to stop himself from nuzzling against the side of Jewel's face. ]

Thanks for helping me brush them...

No thanks needed. You’d do the same for me, right?

[Lays back, pulling Sam with him, falling back against the blankets with a muffled thump]

[ Sam nods, squirming so he can turn himself just enough to hug onto Jewel and cuddle him, glancing up towards him with a small smile. ]

Absolutely. How did you sleep?

[Drops a kiss to Sam’s forehead]

Well enough. I’d ask you, but you didn’t sleep, did you?

Good to hear.

And... yeah, I didn't. I've just had a lot on my mind, I guess.

[ going to sigh and bury his face against Jewel's shoulder now. ]

Want to tell me about some of it?

[Starts rubbing small circles against Sam’s back slowly]

Might sleep better if you get some of those thoughts out.

Just thinking about things like so-called fate and crap. Had a talk with the Ticketmaster about it, where she basically gave me a runaround on every viewpoint of fate and how it's not set in stone while ultimately telling me you can't change it.

I think we have to believe we can.

... Yeah, there's not much else to do since the alternative is pretty bad, I think. Otherwise, if you get some bad news, what keeps you from just giving up, right?

[Covers Sam’s hand with his own, humming in agreement]

I think…everyone is hoping for hard answers. Our situation isn’t that black and white though. I think we each decide what the truth is for ourselves.

I guess hard answers are just easiest when it's stuff out of your control, especially, like terminal illnesses or something.

[ he sighs. ] Then again, it's not worth worrying about either when we're stuck in this place where people are doing whatever the hell they want with themselves and not in good ways.

[ he stretches, his tails flicking like they can push away the sentiments and he goes to hug onto Jewel more protectively. ]

...Just keep doing your best not to hurt yourself and I'll consider it overall a win, okay?

That's not entirely possible, but I'm glad to hear it.

[ Sam is tied of working about other people who don't worry about themselves, but he's stuck worrying about some of them whether he wants to or not. So he's glad he can at least trust Jewel to look out for himself where he can't trust... anyone else to do the same, really, except Duran. ]
