And your solutions aren't a problem. I appreciate you trying to help. I just realize when you offer them sometimes how I'm putting you in a weird position.
You do not have to explain yourself to me. I still stand by what I said and that is not going to change. It has not changed in the time we have known each other.
But please, I've worked customer service long enough to recognize such a response when I hear one. You have a lot on your plate. You do not have to juggle my feelings as well.
[ he refrains from apologizing, even! This is progress most likely. he'll clean the dishes, being very careful about disposing any leftover fish so there's no smell that will crop up later in the holy order kitchen. when he's done he'll return to sit. ]
Well — now I have unlimited fish, apples, chestnuts and coffee beans at my disposal for the next however long it takes for the menu to change. Do you want to take some coffee beans home with you to store?
Of course. I know it's technically only been a couple weeks since I made your last one, but it seems like much longer.
[ Jun will set about making the both of them coffee. Something simple like a latte. He's less concerned about keeping up the conversation as he is just having Sam lounging somewhere in the room with him. ]
[ Sam doesn't have much left to say (or maybe he has a lot still,) but he doesn't make any effort to try and leave or distance himself in the room. His mind wanders as he waits, letting the idle sounds and smells of coffee being done up provide a gentle background noise that is oddly soothing in its familiarity. ]
[ When he's done, Jun sits next to Sam at the counter, placing a cup in front of Sam before just holding his with both hands to warm them up. Even though it's not particularly cold. He clinks his cup with Sam's. ]
[ Sam will at least make a sincere effort to be enthusiastic to this gesture, and he does look like he enjoys the smell and taste of the coffee as he takes a sip now.
And he does.
In truth, Sam mostly hates coffee except when it's made by Jun. So it's nice to be able to enjoy it again rather than be forcing it down his throat every morning on this boat in the name of needing to stay alert. ]

Keep me company.
