[kaeya tries to do one (1) nice thing for a pal and it backfires in the most spectacular fashion. or: sorry, childe, but here is a lovely picture at some late, late hour, because you see:]
Shouldn't you take some time off to enjoy yourself?
If you don't, I'm afraid I'll have to drink this alone.

[oh? oh. that sure is an unfamiliar un—and kaeya is confident he isn't so far gone as to make such a mistake, but that just makes this all the more interesting. he does need to make some new connections in this place...]
Some people find it difficult to have fun. A shame, don't you think?
But that doesn't seem to be the case for you.

Are you always so friendly? Or am I just lucky?

[action] post event (and sometime after talking to Venti)
[The recent events were hardly pleasant and Aether, as one of the victims, can definitely say a thing or two about it. The suffering was on all sides though - the people who were cursed and attacked others hurt just as much. Aether spent a long time comforting Venti, telling him that it wasn't him, making sure that the archon knows he is forgiven. Aether himself still feels the effects of that night, the fear of being completely overpowered and unable to do anything, the feeling of unwanted touch and kisses. But he's trying to put it behind; thankfully he was saved before anything more could happen, so even though the unpleasant memories linger in his mind, he's determined to move on.
The affections he shared with Venti are a proof that he's on a good path to recovery. Or at least that's what he thinks.
But the rough events make Aether worry also about his companions. This is why the traveler decides to check on each one of them, trying to see who needs help, be it helping with injuries or just some emotional support.
After checking on Venti, the next person on his list is Childe. Aether remembers that the Harbinger, along with Diluc saved him when Venti attacked, but he doesn't know what exactly happened later. This is a good moment to find out... and maybe say a thank you? Aether will think about that last one. Perhaps Childe just really wanted to fight all the monsters he had seen that night.
Truth to be told, Aether was too weak to register exactly how his rescue went. Before he knew it, he was in Diluc's arms and Childe or Venti were nowhere to be found.
"I hope he was fine..." Aether thinks to himself, then discards the worry with "It's Childe. He's always fine."
How silly of him to think anything else. But then again... even a god fell to the curse.
With a shaky sigh, Aether knocks on Childe's door.]

With a shaky sigh, Aether knocks on Childe's door.]
[Aether waits, thinking that maybe no one's home and he should message Childe instead. He's about to do that when the door finally opens, revealing the Harbinger...
...One very much injured Harbinger, that is. Aether's eyes widen as he looks the other up and down, taking in all the bandages and the red stains on them.]
What do you mean I should be resting? You should go back to bed!
[He closes the door behind himself, then hovers his hands in front of Childe, as if he's about to shoo him towards the bed.]
What even happened... No, you'll tell me later. You're going to bed right now and then I'm making you tea.
[And maybe if Childe needs to change the bandages, Aether will help with that too. Never mind that this is not his house so he has no idea where everything is.]

[Aether looks at him for a long moment, eyes narrowing, hands on his hips. He's considering this.]
Okay, fine. But take it easy.
[No moving around too much, just be good and stay in one place.
As if to show that it's now decided, he gently grabs one of Childe's hands and leads him to the said coach... Once he figures out where it actually is. It's his first time coming here, after all.]

[As that is asked, Aether looks at Childe for a moment, before sitting down on the couch next to the Harbinger. He lets their bodies touch a little as contact will only help both of them.]
As you can see... yeah, I think I'm all good. [He confirms, but what he means is just being well in physical sense. The memories are still fresh in his mind and a faded mark on his neck is a remainder of what happened. Aether adjust his scarf to hide it.]
So... tea? And then you'll tell me everything that happened to you. [He's not even asking.]

[Aether takes a moment to think about it, before he settles on the couch more comfortably, moving slightly closer to Childe as well.]
You offered tea so I thought that you wanted to drink it with me...
[He shrugs, then looks at his companion. Perhaps it's for the best if he stays in one place. Childe needs a lot of synchrony to recover. Maybe he would offer a hug or something, but the extend of the Harbinger's injuries is worrying and Aether wouldn't want to irritate them or make it more painful for the other.]
So tell me... what happened to you?
[Just how many monsters Childe fought to end up in this state?]

[Another moment of silence.]
If you'd rather I stayed here with you, then just say so.
[He's not going to say no to that.
Childe's explanation makes him frown with worry again as Aether's gaze wonders to the many bandages stained with red.]
Well, then you shouldn't move at all. [He reprimands gently.
Still, this is exactly what he should've expected. Childe was likely all too thrilled for the fights before things got out of hand.
Aether sighs. Even though he's hurt, Childe is safe now and the curses are no more - nothing else matters. They all need to recover, but thankfully they're all in this together.]
Is there anything you need? Anything I can help you with?
[Then he adds:]
You... did help me, didn't you? [From Venti, he means, but then again Childe has been helping him a lot ever since Aether got here.] I owe you, so it's only natural I want to do something for you in return.

You two really get along, huh...
[Aether might not believe that Childe and Diluc are buddies, but Childe and Zhongli are a different story. Even in Liyue they seemed to get along well... until the Harbinger and the traveler were both used in the god's grand plan.
Well, it seems that right now they're on more than good terms. Aether isn't naive, he suspects what kind of relationship this might be given their current circumstances. Zhongli also grew more affectionate, even giving Aether a hug. Perhaps there is something good about staying in this place.
He glances at Childe's wounds again.
If only the bad things weren't so severe...
As for Aether's rescue, truth to be told, he doesn't remember much of it. One moment he was being kissed by Venti, the next he woke up looking bleary at Diluc.]
If you say so... Still, since Mister Zhongli is not around, I'll take care of you until he's back. [Very gently he pokes Childe's arm.] You are still my companion, so... you know. If you need anything, I'm here.
[That's the best way he can say "I care about you and I'm not leaving until I make sure you'll be fine".]

[Aether looks Childe straight in the eyes as his own grow a little bigger when his hand is taken like this. For a moment he looks like he's unsure if he's even hear right.]
I...
[A bright blush overtakes his face and yet he just keeps on looking right into the endless blue of Childe's eyes. Just why does the other make him feel like this? Why does he try to tease him all the time?]
I-I'm perfectly fine, just... [He's trying to act like he's unbothered by the request. This place requires them to be physically close with one another anyway!] But.. your wounds...
[Hugs or cuddles would hurt him, wouldn't they?]

[In this very moment Aether thinks to himself that Childe's smile is absolutely unfair. The traveler already promised to do anything to help the other, so there's no turning back.
Still, when Childe parts his legs and pats the spot between them, Aether's face reaches a new level of red. He's... really supposed to sit there? It seems to close, and yes, he's still worried about Childe's wounds but at the same time he's also concerned how his heart is going to take this.
Sitting on the other's lap wouldn't be a better option even if it was possible now.]
TV... s-sure... [He desperately needs a distraction now as he very slowly and carefully moves to the spot that Childe gestured. Except then he gets unsure how he's even supposed to sit there. With his back turned to Childe? His side facing the other?
Oh gods, this seemed so much easier just a few moments ago. Now it feels like he's a nervous mess and he's afraid to move too much because Childe is hurt and he'd hate to add to his pain.]
Y-you're really sure about this?
[Just asking!!]

[Unfair. Absolutely, utterly and completely unfair. There really is no hope for him.
When arms wrap around him Aether freezes for a second, before relaxing slightly. Perhaps he's extra jumpy about these things after what happened with Venti. His back is right against Childe's chest, the other doesn't hold him too tightly though, so maybe it really will be okay.
...It feels warm. Like in that dream.
He doesn't know why he's remembering that again, but Aether breathes out slowly, trying to relax. Then he settles in something maybe not really too comfortable, but he's pretty sure he'll be fine like this even if they sit here for hours.]
If... anything starts hurting you, tell me, okay?

[Once Childe settles back against the cushions and wraps his arms around him, Aether lets the air out of his lungs, then very gently leans back. He's trying to get comfortable more against the other's arm than chest, to avoid the most injured parts. If the situation was any different he would likely get extra embarrassed and even kind of amazed by the harbinger's impressive muscles, but now he focuses more on their closeness and the wounds.
The movie proves to be a nice distraction and he stays silent at first, up until the moment a sneaky fox makes his appearance.]
...The fox is kind of like you.
[Except he's not looking for fights. But again, Childe even has a fox form, so it absolutely fits.
The story is really nice. It has it's happy or funny moments, it has some drama to it, some action. The more Aether focuses on the pictures on the screen the more he relaxes in Childe's embrace. He even puts his hands on the other's arms, gently keeping them there.
There's a pleasant warmth spreading through his entire body.]
