...I didn't go back. I stayed behind while the others ran. I didn't know how fast it was I didn't want it catching any of the others. Breezy was willing to trust the Dame, but I didn't.
I used a piece of the mirror and the flashlight to put some light behind us and had Breezy hold the mirror to see what it was in case it was Aracha. He only saw ooze. When I turned around Aracha was being dragged into it and suffocated.
He said that the ooze was all over and along the walls when we talked to him initially. I thought he might be inside the monster somehow, but apparently he said the ooze just suddenly seemed as if it 'realized' that we could escape and it congealed all around him and tried to drag him under. I wasn't expecting Aracha to be there too with the monster when I turned around, I actually wasn't sure what to make of it.
Well, just, I mean I said I wanted to fight the monster but it grabbed him. If I hadn't maybe it would have just disappeared...? I don't know, I talked to Heron with Unholy and he said they also chose to fight the monster to protect Aster, but I'm not sure if I made a really irresponsible decision.
That thing was disgusting, it wasn't just gross smelling ooze. I can't imagine the shit he's gonna deal from that. I don't regret what I did, but... yeah...
I'm not going to say it wasn't a risky decision. Since you had already guaranteed your safety in the performance— staying back to fight the monster could be considered as rash or irresponsible. But you saved Aracha as a result. So I cannot say it is any more risky than those who chose to not look behind.
Perhaps looked at another way, what would you be feeling now if you and Aracha had been devoured by the monster?
Ahh, I don't know. I think I would have been pretty guilty for dragging him with me. It wasn't even a monster I could mess around with so I had no justification in my head for it.
Then considering all of that, I think you made a decision that was very true to who you are and what you wanted.
You should not be so hard on yourself because the result was overall successful. It is true that Aracha will have to deal with what happened to him and will probably have trauma because of it— but I think that is unavoidable for all of those who were taken.
Aha, thanks, Jun. You're always reassuring, and I appreciate you putting up with me.
Also... I don't know this for sure, but I think the monsters all had to do with those that were taken...? We didn't see all of them, but... at least, Aracha's... the body parts in the ooze, there were a couple faces in there that resembled Aracha. It was really nightmare fuel... definitely the last thing on my list of possible monsters I wanted to see.
Yeah, it was bad. They'd been in there for some time so no one on this ship but... looked like a mad scientist abomination from a horror film or video game.
[ shudders involuntarily. creepy stuff that didn't bother him while the adrenaline was going but now is super
[ Sam nods and gets up to go get some water. He's really relieved Jun came by. Since pretty much everyone he knows was destroyed in the performance and/or getting drunk which made it very awkward to be alone with Thinky Thoughts. He'll pad back over to the couch and sit down and wait. ]
[ Luckily Jun's own drunken escapades in the wee hours of early morning stopped somewhere after uninhibited buzz but before inability to walk in a straight line since he had to cart his own butt back to his own cabin to sleep it off. And what is a hangover compared to the three day all-nighter he pulled for finals week?
(Probably still a lot, but—)
Blanket and charger acquired, he goes about setting up himself for a bit of light studying and drapes the blanket over Sam's legs before sitting down again. ]
[ Sam nods and curls up in the blanket. Waiting for Jun to get comfortable too now. Afterall it's silly to try and start snoozing it's the other isn't also comfortable and read to do whatever reading he wants to do. ]
[ Jun double checks that the phone is charging and fusses as he is wont to do with the placement of everything before turning and nodding at Sam. ]
Of course. Please rest well.
[ And he leaves his lap open if Sam wishes to continue his previous position but also is at one end of the couch should Sam want to lie down across the rest of it. ]
[ Sam isn't so bold anymore now that he realizes Jun is willingly inconveniencing himself for him and actively offering like it's not a headache. He will at best scoot over enough to lean his head against the side of Jun's leg but not actually use his lap. Like a stray dog wanting attention and comfort but too afraid to go on the porch and actually show he openly wants it. ]
[ Jun reaches over to pat his hair again and adjust the blanket so that it covers him up to his shoulders. Ah, Sam must be embarrassed so he should do his best not to draw any attention to this.
So after dimming the lights, he opens his phone to dark mode and begins reading some law article about this or that which would be the subject of his next exam if he still were able to continue his courses. ]

When you turned around and went back, what did you see?

Then how can you think you made it worse? He would have died if you had not stayed behind.

I don't really want to get anyone killed other than myself with my bad choices if has to come to that.

Are you going to be able to sleep?
Re: Day 212
Snow is helping me with sleeping medication, but I can't go bother Acidia for something like that right now.
