disposition record

❝Meet Tartaglia — the cunning Snezhnayan whose unpredictable personality keeps people guessing his every move. Don't be under any illusion as to what he might be thinking or what his intentions are. Just remember this: Behind that innocent, childlike exterior lies a finely honed instrument of war.❞

childlike. { To say one is like a child can mean so many things and is a word that describes so much of Childe in the process. He is friendly, almost to a point of ignorance when one first meets him, incredibly charismatic, charming despite his obvious connections to a less-than-esteemed organization, and even needs to go to baby jail sometimes for the rawness of immaturity that can explode into a tantrum when things do not go his way.) Possessing high self-esteem, he tends to be easily manipulated by those more calculating due to his own ego and his lack of willingness to completely hide his intentions. He's the only Harbinger that is out in the open in the territories he is sent to— scheming and underhanded manipulative intentions that are standard for the 10 other Harbingers are not tactics he uses on approaching goals. He claims to simply prefer being more direct, but don't be fooled into thinking he is above underhanded means when necessary: he'll just stab you in the front rather than your back. He is also highly ambitious and well-known for it as he is the youngest Harbinger and, as far as we know, the only one that had to work their way from the bottom of the Fatui to the top.

thrill of the fight. { Childe has a particular love of battle. An incredibly trained soldier with a lust for bloodshed and chaos, he seeks to prove himself consistently and to continue to grow stronger with each battle he fights. He holds high respect for those that possess strength. Despite his less admirable traits and being a self-proclaimed "bad-guy", he believes the strong should protect the weak (civilians, etc.) Fighting strong opponents makes life worth living and this defines him well. Everything is second to a worthwhile fight, a worthwhile opponent. As an extension of this, it's notable that Childe is often a seeker of attention and constant validation and recognition for himself. Strength/Power are essential to him, and he is quite (shamelessly) greedy about it through his own efforts.

for the queen. { When it comes to seeing the Tsaritsa's goals realized, despite all his other tendencies that contrast the other Harbingers, Childe pursues the concept of "all means justify the end." He will manipulate, he will scheme, he will kill innocent people even if he doesn't want to for the sake of his Queen and finishing his missions regardless of how impossible they may seem. He never does not finish his missions. It's noted that he is particularly loyal to the Tsaritsa despite her being an unloving and cold individual. He admires her greatly, perhaps even sees her ability to "close herself off to emotions" (rather than being "cruel" as many claim) as a trait to be emulated.

mercurial, like water. { More than anything, mercurial is the defining trait of Tartaglia (alias "Childe"). He is unpredictable, impossible to read, and changes behaviors like a switch being flipped. One minute he's friendly and caring, the next he is murdering in cold blood— perhaps to the same person. Even so, he is known to let his authentic self show for people he deeply cares for at times when alone with them. Despite his overall reputation as the 11th Harbinger (highly feared on the battlefield even compared to the other Harbingers) and his opinion of himself (kind of "bad guy), he is the kindest of the Harbingers towards his subordinates and treats them like actual people. He has high expectations, but is realistic about execution and results and does not consider his personnel outright expendable. Furthermore— and the one thing that will have him as authentic as he comes public or not— he is an extremely protective and loving brother. He is willing to humiliate himself in front of his men in order to keep his youngest brother ignorant of the harsh realities of the world, pretending that he is a master toymaker and not a Harbinger of the feared Fatui organization. To him, protecting children's dreams and their innocence as long as possible is necessary, and he wishes to hold out disappointing his youngest brother about what he really is for as long as possible.

noctium sustainability: While he won't be particularly thrilled about being taken somewhere he was not ordered or otherwise intended to go to, he has experience with this sort of situation. When he was young, he fell into the Abyss, a void of darkness and dangerous unknowns directly in opposition to Celestia, the home of his world's gods. Comparatively, arrival in this setting and circumstance is much less of a shock, especially as his personality was fundamentally changed after he finally managed to crawl out of the Abyss. He's used to adapting to situations as they come if he's not already a step ahead and being here will be no different. He prefers control, of course, but shit happens.

I haven't decided if he will or will not go through transformations, but it won't bother him if he does as he's already got an ability that transforms him into something inhuman (and he likes it because it makes him even stronger.)

His easy going nature and tendency for love of chaos makes him hard to shake. The need for synchrony will have him initially puzzled, but he won't find an incessant need to resist it or go out of his way to avoid it. To him, it'll be just another part of the equation of being here that can't be helped and he'll find the supposed benefits worth the inconvenience.

Once he realizes how much power he can get by synchrony, however, he's going to be off-his-rocker greedy about doing it, so he won't have the least trouble adhering to this place's whims. He's ready to be this world's new BFF whether it wants him or not.

Condition upon arrival: perfect health.
abilities

hydrokinesis. His hydro vision (see inventory #1) allows him to form and manipulate the element of water. Most often forms weapons of all sorts, with sufficient favoring to dual blades and lances/spears.

electRokinesis. His electro delusion (see inventory #2) provides manipulation and creation of electricity as well as increased speed and strength, but can be detrimental to the user (e.g. extremely painful, draining).

foul-legacy. Foul-Legacy is a Transformation ability. Childe becomes larger (like several feet larger and bulked out), faster (again), stronger (again), fully armored, crazy (more) dangerous (than before.) This is something he acquired from his time spent training in the Abyss. It's incredibly detrimental to his health if used when in a weakened state. He is not able to continuously transform without killing himself, and must wait periods of time to "fully recover" before using it again without it being a danger to him. (more info.)

**abyss-touched: this means Tartaglia has been in the Abyss, been granted powers or abilities only those of the Abyss are normally able to claim. It is implied this affects his human lifespan as well, but there's no confirmation and there is no hint as to what happens afterward.

RIP-TIDE. Childe is able to "mark" targets if he lands a direct blow with his hydro or electro weapons. opponents affected by Riptide will suffer from AoE Hydro DMG effects that are activated when he attacks them and inflicts DOT. If the opponents are not marked, the AoE spells are harmless splashes of water. Each riptide lasts about 60 seconds, and can be continually reapplied. (going to have this consume manna to nerf it some.)

soldier training. ( russian military/marine-level training. cqc. etc.) ]

weapons. He is skilled at all weapons, his lowest proficiency being with a bow, which is why he fights primarily with one. If he starts to use melee combat, it's an indicator the fight is at least mildly serious.

etc. He's exceptionally fast and agile and has high pain tolerance.
